Peace, Not Pressure: Building a Business That Supports Your Life, Not Steals It

If today finds you questioning yourself about starting your own business, you are not here by accident. I am here to encourage you to not quit. I know you may be tired, overwhelmed and the joy that was once there is leaving by the day, but….

I know you didn’t start a business to add more to your plate and become a slave to it, right? No, I believe you started this business to make the lives of others better, including your own.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO BUILD A BUSINESS ON OUR OWN TERMS?

It is way too easy to find ourselves caught up in the hustle culture that has become the American way of life it seems. This work, grind and forget everything else until you get the prize kind of life is a big, fat LIE! It is killing us all, yet we aren’t sure what else to do.

Can I say right here….if you are tending to your family, your home and maybe even working a 8-5 job while working on your business- GOOD JOB! You are already successful. Hustle would say forget the snuggles on the couch with the kids, give up the date night to work or so many other things that take the joy out of our life daily.

So, again I am smiling ear to ear, looking at you and saying

“ You are doing a great job!”

Business Should Feel Like Partnership, Not Pressure

What I mean by that is that I believe it is possible to build a business with rhythms of organized systems that bring in peace and clarity, not more pressure every day to perform more and work longer. Simply stated, when your systems support you, your life expands.

This is your business and it can be built in a way to bring life, not steal it!

The 3 Shifts That Bring Peace

  1. Simplicity over perfection
  2. Rhythms over grind
  3. Clarity over chaos

Are you like me and try to make things more complicated than they need to be to get the job done? I hope to help you see that SIMPLE is what we all crave because our brains are overwhelmed constantly. Perfect is a myth that I am still learning myself. I realize in my work systems that it is a must to automate repetitive tasks, get rid of all unnecessary and make everything as simple as possible for myself and everyone else on the team for the business to run smoothly. Picture a huge machine with interlocking gears….we cannot have extra dust, paper or anything getting in the way or it will stop working as it was designed. The same stands true for our small business life.

Simplify everything. Find easy solutions. Ditch the chaos.

I am not only experienced in bookkeeping, but I also understand building myself to believe I am capable of building a business. I know you have had to do the same work on yourself too. Some are more inclined to believe they can fly to the moon if they really wanted to, but I am the opposite- melancholy and deep thinking. My temperament is prone to staying safe and overanalyzing which is not easy for one who feels called to build a business, ministry or other.

I do know that when we know we are called to do something bigger than ourselves, we will have a hard time stepping into that unless we trust there is a purpose and a plan ahead of us. This is hard fought at times, but I know this is why you are reading this far! I see you and I am excited for you.
